Conversations with a 5 year old

So I'm picking up the markers after a marathon coloring session when Ethan walks by....

Me: Hey, buddy! Wanna help mommy pick up these markers?

Ethan: No thanks. I don't like cleanin' up.

Me: Well, do you think I like cleaning up?

Ethan: You're always doing it, so you must like it!

Indeed.

I get "no mummy, you can do/carry it". Then the childminder told me she looks & feels like a Christmas tree on the way to school carrying everyone's book & lunch bags. Then I felt bad for not being more forceful...

Never ask, always tell.

Yeah, can't wait for the day Sophie figures that one out... For now we can still convince her picking up is FUN! Most of the time...

Have Ethan and Truman been sharing life philosophies? Or does the wisdom just come with being 5?
