Supplemental Post - Keepin' It Going....

Hey everyone! Beth at Fake Plastic Fish just gave me a little mention in her blog for sending unwanted plastic back (an idea I got from her). So, I wanted to let everyone know that Green Bean at Grean Bean Dreams has also decided to start returning her unwanted plastic as well.

So what do you think, folks? How long can we keep this going? Long enough to get 10 people to start doing this? 20? Someone once asked me how many people it takes to get a movement going, well let's find out.

And hey, if you're ready to start doing this (even just occasionally), leave a comment and let me know!

Power to the plastic-free people!

Hoping someone out there comes up with a better catchphrase than that. These campaigns die without a cool slogan! ;-)

How many people does it take to make a movement?

Arlo Guthrie says it takes 50 people in Alice's Restaurant, which is timely since it was just Thanksgiving. I'll give it a shot!

Thanks for the mention, Erin. That's right - I'm sending plastic back! With a little love letter about how plastic is bad for the environment, etc. I've also stopped buying from Amazon - that's a hard one for me but the stuff they send is so over packaged that I just can't take it any more.

I'm in! I just made a post in the forums on my own website discussing the fact that my family is seriously behind on the 'going green' issue.

I really want to change that. I've decided that every single week, I'll be adding another 'green' alternative to my family's routine.

This will be my next week's addition (if I receive any plastic this week, I'll save it to send back though)

Hopefully it will inspire someone else to do the same, just like you did for me!

Oh, and I also just wanted to add that I'm so glad to have found your blog! It will be very helpful in coming up with ways to get my family greener!

Thanks :)

I'll join the effort. I mentioned it on my blog (click on my name).

Also, check out this blog, Living Plastic Free. She is eliminating all plastic from her life--ALL plastic. It's pretty interesting.

Wow, what a great blog! Hey, I think "Power to the Plastic Free People" is a great slogan! PPFP! hah. I live with family members who use so much plastic and cardboard it makes me insane. It's hard for me to measure the little that I do when I see piles. But it doesn't mean it's not important! I've stopped buying items at the store that are packaged in bad plastic, so no more yogurt or cottage cheese for me.

Beth has gotten me into sending my plastic back as well. I recently sent a letter to Whole Foods about a plastic scooper that showed up in my 365 Everyday Value Laundry Detergent. I mailed them a letter telling them I was switching to Ecover until they got rid of the scooper. And, of course, I included the scooper in the envelope.

I thought it was pretty fun to do, although I admit that I didn't mention that I was returning my scooper in the letter. I couldn't figure out how to do it without sounding too cheeky. Hmmmm.

Yes, LLP, I often find it difficult to say damn near anything without sounding cheeky! ;-) Doesn't shut me up, though!
